In a significant gathering of Congress leaders, President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the need for unity, coordination, and discipline among party workers as they gear up for elections in five poll-bound states. This strategic approach is aimed at maximizing their electoral success.
Addressing key party figures at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Kharge reiterated the party's demand for a nationwide caste census. This initiative aims to ensure social justice and rights for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) based on their population. He pointed out the conspicuous silence from the BJP on this critical matter. Kharge argued that obtaining socio-economic data on marginalized sections of society is imperative for a fair distribution of welfare schemes and ensuring social justice.
Furthermore, Kharge made a promise on behalf of the Congress, stating that the party would implement women's reservation if they secure victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Kharge urged party leaders to accelerate their efforts in spotlighting the government's shortcomings. He emphasized the necessity of promptly countering the "false propaganda" propagated by the ruling BJP, especially as elections draw near. Kharge noted the stark contrast between the Prime Minister's absence in Manipur and his frequent visits to states with ongoing elections. He criticized the Prime Minister for making baseless attacks filled with lies and falsehoods against the Congress party, asserting that such tactics would only intensify in the lead-up to the elections. Kharge stressed the importance of combating these falsehoods and creating a compelling counter-narrative.
This strategy not only enhances party unity but also highlights Congress's commitment to social justice and equitable representation, while also countering the BJP's divisive tactics.
